Nishan & Fabric Care
A little care keeps your nishan, flag and devotional fabric bright and beautiful for years — श्याम बाबा की सेवा में.
Washing
- Hand-wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent — the first wash of a bright colour may release a little excess dye.
- Do not bleach. Do not scrub or wring jari (zari) work; press gently to remove water.
Drying
- Dry in shade, not direct harsh sun — strong sun fades colour over time.
- Hang the flag fully open so it keeps its shape; iron on low heat, inside-out over jari.
Storing
- Store clean and fully dry, folded loosely in a cotton cloth — avoid plastic for long storage so the fabric breathes.
- Keep away from damp to prevent stains and odour. Refold occasionally along different lines to avoid permanent creases.
Handling the pole (bans)
- Wipe the bamboo/segmented pole with a dry cloth; keep it dry to prevent splitting.
- For 8ft+ segmented poles, store the sections together and check joints before each use.
